My Sister...The Champion

My sister Tessa and her team just won state volleyball.  It was so exciting and I'm so proud of her and all of the work she has put into becoming a great volleyball player.  But my sister is more than just a volleyball champion, she's a champion in so many other things.

She's a champion at being fun!  She's always good for a laugh and she just says the funniest stuff!

She's a champion at being nice.  She never has a bad thing to say about anybody.

She's a champion at school.  She's seriously so smart!

She's a champion at the trumpet.  She made All-State band last year, and I'm so proud of her for it!

She's a champion at keeping her word.  She always does what she says she will, and she does it the best she can.

She's a champion at working hard.  She works hard at everything she puts her mind to.

She's a champion at being my best friend.

She's a champion at living the gospel and standing up for what's right.  She even stands up to me and keeps me in line.  That takes some guts!

I look up to Tessa so much!  She has taught me so much.  We're doing good at being separated, but it's obvious, we're better together :)  I can't wait til next year when we're reunited!  Love you bud!!

State Volleyball!!!

On Wednesday I went from this:

to this:

But it was totally worth it!!  I got to go to State Volleyball for Tessa's senior volleyball tournament.  I got to ride the 5.5 hour drive between these two lovely ladies, my Aunt Marlene and Aunt Linda.  It was so fun having them along.

This is the great team I got to watch, all ready to serve-recieve.

Tessa jumps really high, and is probably the best 5'2" outside hitter ever. (besides me of course :) ) The picture is blurry because she swings so hard and fast.

I got to spend a lot of time with these great people!  I love them so much, and I was so glad I got to spend the weekend with them.

Tessa and I holding up our matchy necklaces.  She really rocks that lip-stick doesn't she!

Tyson and I showing how excited we were to be at State Volleyball together.  It was so great to see him!!

Mom and Brady.  I just couldn't get enough of that little chunk!  And I really love my mom.

Me and Dad!  He's got a pretty awesome beard right about now...

This is how Brady felt at the end of the weekend...

Here's the State Champs after we honked them in.

The seniors.

They are super great!  I love them and am so proud of them!  It's no easy feat to win a state championship, especially in the fashion they did. They swept it in 3.  They are a great team, and I'm so glad I got to go and watch them!

Guess who's here?!

My mom!!  Yea, who gets to have a sleepover with their mom at college?  This girl!   I've had the best afternoon/evening with my mom.  I've been so excited for her to come, and I'm so glad she's here.  I miss my mom while I'm at school, so I'm so glad I get to spend some time with her here.  We're heading home tomorrow after my classes, and I'm super excited for that too!  It's a great week people!

Adaptive Aquatics

Adaptive Aquatics is a program where special needs kids come to the pool and gym here at BYU and students play with them for 45 minutes.  Here's a video explaining it a little more:

I have been wanting to go down to Adaptive Aquatics all year, but stuff keeps coming up.  Today I finally went!  I was in the pool, and I was with one little boy.  He was probably about 6, but he couldn't talk.  He was so sweet though!  When we first got in the pool he did not want to let go of me, but by the end he was jumping off the edge (into my arms).  He even got brave enough to stick his face under the water!  It was so exciting for me to see him gain confidence.  I honestly can't describe in words the feeling I had while playing with this boy.  There is something special about these kids.  Fridays at noon in the pool are definitely going to become a priority!  Have a great weekend :)

Laundry and Skinny Jeans

This, my friends, is what a dang full laundry basket looks like:

I haven't done my laundry in 4 weeks, and I have one pair of underwear left.  I have lots of shirts left, but no jeans left either.  My dad calls the amount of clothes I have sad, but I choose to call it blessed :)  Today laundry cost me $8.50 for 4 loads.  That's kinda a lot of money.  So, I want to make sure I FILL those machines, and fill I did!  So this morning, because I have no jeans left, I decided I'd wear my skinny jeans with my boots.  In a rush I pulled my jeans on, went for my boots, and they weren't there!!  I had a little freak out moment, then I remembered I hadn't brought them from home yet because I wasn't supposed to need them yet. Well I was wrong, and I was going to be late for work. So, I grabbed a pair of flats and headed out the door.

(I took this picture when I got back)

So, I wore skinny jeans for the first time today, and I felt kinda awkward.  They're just not me yet.  But, I have decided that my next pair of pants just might be straight leg.  I might be able to go that far :)  I mean I like skinny jeans on most girls, I just don't feel like they're good on me.  I don't know, maybe it's just because I'm not very good with change...

Change

So today at the Temple I was reading from the Ensign while I was waiting, and I read a great article written just for me!  I can't find the article online, and I know I'm looking in the right magazine because there are the other articles I read, so I'll just do my best.  It was talking about change.  A college age girl was narrating it and she talked about every time something fun or happy happened she found herself dreading it ending instead of just enjoying the moment. Many more happy moments will come if we let them.  Change is inevitable, that's the way Heavenly Father wants it to be.  He wants us to change and grow.  Change is hard for me, but this article just put it into perspective for me.  I need to accept the changes and run with them.  I need to enjoy every moment!   I know that the happy moments will come if we let them.

Fro-yo anybody?

So I made a little treat for myself today at lunch.  I had 3 strawberries, a banana, and a Yoplait yogurt.  So, I cut up the banana and the strawberries and mixed them in a bowl with the yogurt.  Then I put 3 nilla wafers (I LOVE those) at the bottom of 2 mini Ziploc containers, put half of the yogurt concoction in each, and put it in the freezer.  Tonight after dinner I pulled one out, let it sit for about 10 minutes so my spoon could actually cut through the frozen block, and then I devoured it.  That's right, devoured it. I thought it was pretty stinking good!  I even went and got the other one out of the freezer to take a picture just for all of you :)

The picture actually looks pretty nasty, but I promise it's good!  Next time, I'll make sure to cut the strawberries a little smaller though...they don't thaw as fast as the bananas and the yogurt. Have a great day everybody :)

Lately...

Lately I've been missing these cute kids.

I know these aren't all of the kids, but I just love this picture, I mean look at the joy!  I just love all my nieces and nephews and it makes me a little sad to know that they are growing up so fast!  Hopefully I'll get to see them all soon, but Christmas really will be here before we know it!

Homecoming at BYU

This is the view I have everyday walking to school.  Today I took a second to enjoy it and took a picture.  I truly am living the dream.

On my way up to observe/help/play at music preschool (which is AWESOME by the way), I got FREE BLUE Pancakes from BYU/SA.  It's been homecoming week here at BYU and lots of awesome stuff has been happening for free, so I finally took advantage of one.  I had to eat them on the run, but I was a lucky winner and had chocolate chips in mine, and they were nice enough to give me two!

At the game, we were on the 7th row.  It was pretty sweet.  It was also a black-out so everyone was wearing black along with the team.  I think our colors should be switched to black and royal blue like the uniforms were.  They were legit!  We played pretty good until the 4th quarter, and then we kinda fell apart, but the game was a total blast until then!  Here's us about to score our first touchdown :)

Last, but not least, James Harden from the OKC Thunder was at our game!  Say What?!  (jk, but that beard is crazy, huh?!)

Voting and a Poster

I mailed in my absentee ballot!  I'm pretty excited that I got to vote this year.  It's such an awesome right that we have, and I hope all of you take advantage of it.  If you're from Wyoming, and you need an absentee ballot, here's the number:  307-877-9056 and the extension is 2020.  Call as soon as possible to make sure you get it in on time.  If your not from Wyoming, look up the number, and vote!!  They also gave me this sweet sticker, and I really should have worn it on my shirt all day.

I finished my art project about an hour ago.  Last night I was sweating bullets trying to find a paper slicer so that the poster wouldn't look like it was made by a 2nd grader.  I never did get my hands on one, so my dear cousin Celinda was nice enough to lend me her van so I could go up to Joann's and get this bad boy.

I figured I'll use it a lot in the next few years.  I almost died handing over the $20 though...  Anyways, here is the finished project.  Well almost finished...I still have to get it laminated.

Once I got the slicer, it was complete joy doing this project!  I loved it!  I just cut paper, laid it out, and glued it on all while blasting some country tunes.  Best college project I've ever been assigned, that's for sure!  Maybe someday this will be hanging in a classroom :)

My week in photos

Tuesday:  This is a print I made in my art class.  So fun, but actually kinda hard.  I had to draw the design, and then actually make it and print it with ink.  I really loved learning how to do it.

Wednesday:  This is the view from my music classroom.  I love it.  I love our flag.

Thursday:  This was quite the day.  I was kinda running everywhere like a chicken with their head cut off.  Thus, the reason for no picture... I did write down goals though. I already had all of these as commitments to myself, but I friend convinced me to write them down so they would become goals.  I failed 3 of them in less than 24 hours; those 24 hours being Thursday.  I'm not giving up though!  It did end really well though, just so you all know.  Look for the positive! :)

Friday:  I got to go wedding dress shopping with the wonderful Madi, and a bunch of her family.  They were all nice enough to let me tag along, and it was a blast!  Her lovely Grandma Gwen is actually making her dress, we were just finding all of the things she likes and then Grandma Gwen's magic will take them all and make them into the perfect dress!!  We also went bridesmaid dress shopping (got THE cutest stuff) and went to the BYU vs. USU football game.  Go Cougs :)  I LOVED Friday!

Saturday:  Chill day.  Went on a nice run in the morning, then watched conference.  Celinda and I went to our kind-of-cousin, Elizabeth's, birthday party at Pizza Pie Cafe.  It was so great to see her again!

Sunday: Today we watched conference again.  So, we live in this lovely old house, and for some reason the heating isn't working, and the office is closed until Monday.  So the last two days we have been freezing!  This is us watching conference this morning.  All of us in multiple layers, snuggled up in blankets.

I am so blessed!  It truly has been a great week!

Engaged

Today my best friend Madi got engaged!  I'm so excited for her!  We've been best friends for a dang long time.  She's such a fun girl and I can talk to her about anything, and we can talk forever!  I love that every time I see her or talk to her we just pick up right where we left off.  She's a great girl and she got a great guy.  She deserves the best!

We've had so much fun together through the years!!

Here's the cute couple :)

Congrats!!  Love you Madi!!
